Dear Ahana,
I know you very well. How many nights I spent awake like you! Looking at the chat where I got no reply to so many messages. The colorful color has changed to blue. I’ve been waiting like you.

I spent day after day in depression and anxiety. I kept an eye on the phone and watched his social movements. More frustration set in. I could not stop myself. I could not take my eyes off the phone. Tried hard to immerse yourself in other work! I didn’t lose my mind. Even sitting in the circle of friends zone out, I thought what he is doing!

Looking for social validation. I thought all the pictures are perfect even behind the pictures of everyone smiling. Everyone is fine, I’m not! So I wanted to stay well together. I often went out with friends, took pictures with a smile and came home not enjoying myself one bit!

But then one day the mind came out of this! I understand that all fake! All empty! In this virtual world, no matter how much one says ‘very much loved’, but everyone is very lonely. Everyone is looking forward to the validation if they give a picture! Desperate to get Reach, this unreal world is broken! I am out of this world. Like you!

It wasn’t easy to overcome this scumbag. This is a world of addiction. There is no way out. There is no light. you can too To float out into the real world and breathe. To extend a hand to two dear friends. They will pull you tight, in this world where the feet touch the grass, the birds chirp in the ears and the sweet fragrance of flowers in the air.

My Opinions

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan Movie Letter to a Character Ahana
Imdb Critic’s Review

The film hits the mark as a reflection of the shallowness in modern-day relationships and oversharing on social media. However, there aren’t any standout performances or particularly memorable scenes. Adarsh Gourav is easily the top performer in the trio of protagonists, rounded off by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. The overall goodness in the writing (credits given to four people – Arjun Varain Singh who also directs, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Yash Sahai) especially comes through in the depiction of the trio’s friendship. Even when they aren’t the most likeable set of humans, the screenplay doesn’t have to try too hard to make us buy into the candid warmth they share.

Each of the protagonists gets a reasonably fleshed-out arc, and most of it has to do with their changing perception of relationships (whether it’s with parents, colleagues, partners, and more). Neil (Adarsh Gourav) is unsure of his ongoing fling with a social media influencer, Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi) is heavily into one-night-stands, and Ahana (Ananya Panday) is struggling to come to terms with her unconfirmed break-up. The common thread that also binds the trio is their business plan, but since the writing places more focus on the relationships aspect, this doesn’t really go anywhere other than being brought up as a trope to reunite them after things momentarily go south.

Though I wouldn’t call them standouts, the lead performances are pretty solid; it helps that the writing revolves majorly around them. On the contrary, that could also be why almost all supporting acts feel one-note. This includes Imaad’s business-minded father, Ahana’s ex, Neil’s parents, and his secret influencer-girlfriend. The only exception is Kalki Koechlin, who casually lights up the screen with her presence. Tanay Satam’s visuals remind you of Gehraiyaan; I’m guessing it’s mostly due to the Mumbai monsoons colour palette, which I really like. The song compositions are by a whole bunch of artistes, and they’re the kind that makes you want to listen to, over and over. The 2h 15m runtime is good enough, as it doesn’t feel overstretched or running out of creative fuel.
